Volunteering

I volunteer for Big Brothers / Big Sisters. My Little Brother, Zo, is freakin' cool. I brought him with me doing all kinds of stuff, from rappelling into caves to helping friends move to fixing my radiator to fooling with lasers in the optics lab. He just moved away, so I'll be getting another Little Brother soon, but I really miss Zo.

Caving

I love being underground. It's really satisfying to overcome the challenges imposed by nature here. These aren't places that are smoothed over and made easy for people. They can be raw and wild. You can see things there that you literally can't see anywhere else on Earth.

Motorcycling

I'm sadly out of practice. I spent several years as a member of the SabMag (Sabre-Magna-Interceptor) email list. I barely ride these days, mostly because I don't have the space to work on my bikes anymore. I'm hoping that changes soon, the roads here are just too incredible to pass up.

Stargazing

Saturn's rings. The closest galaxy, Andromeda. Baby stars in Orion's nebula. Need I say more?
